Hyde and Sleep is a relatively new name in the online mattress industry, but it is quickly becoming one of the most trusted names. Made in the United Kingdom, Hyde and Sleep is making big waves in the mattress world, and it’s easy to see why… The makers are truly passionate about what they do and they are truly committed to making mattresses that are comfortable, supportive and improve the quality of sleep that people get.
In order to ensure that they deliver exceptional products, the makers of Hyde and Sleep have teamed up with another leading UK based mattress manufacturer: Dreams. Together, these two companies have a combined experience of three decades, and they have truly excelled in their mattress making abilities. It’s no wonder why Hyde and Sleep and Dreams have decided to join forces and have become one of the most trusted mattress makers in the United Kingdom!
Working together, Hyde and Sleep and Dreams have come up with a mattress that is designed to provide exceptional comfort and support for the majority of sleepers: The Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress. Made of the highest quality materials, including layers of cooling foam, next gen memory foam, high density polyurethane foam, and coils, the Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress from Hyde and Sleep is designed to provide the best of both worlds: The contouring and pressure relief power of foam and the bounce of spring coils.
To further improve the experience for consumers, the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress is shipped directly from the manufacturer, which means that shoppers do not have to go from store to store to try out mattresses, and they also don’t have to deal with the high pressure sales tactics that many mattress salespeople use in order to make a sale. Additionally, since it isn’t sold in a showroom, it helps to bring down the cost of the mattress, as there aren’t any overhead costs to contend with. However, while being offered only online certainly does make buying this mattress a lot easier – and less expensive – it does create one issue: You can’t try it out before you buy it. As a result, it can be hard to determine whether or not the Hyde and Sleep Pocked Spring Hybrid mattress is the right pick for you.

Below is our final score of the Nectar mattress based on multiple criteria that we use when testing all of our mattresses.
There are several hybrid foam and coil mattresses on the market that are similar to the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring mattress, however, we found that there were two that were two in particular that were real competitors: The Saatva mattress and the Alexander hybrid mattress.
The Saatva is a hybrid mattress that compares to the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress because both of are hybrid mattresses; in other words, they are both made with a combination of foam materials and inner spring pocket coils. Each of these mattress are made to minimize heat retention and deliver superior comfort and support; however, the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress retains less heat than the Saatva, thanks to the layer of cool foam, which makes it cooler than the Saatva mattress and ultimately makes it more comfortable.
The Alexander hybrid mattress is also similar to the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Coil Hybrid mattress. Both of these mattresses are made of layers of high quality foam and inner spring coils, and both are designed to provide excellent support and comfort while reducing heat retention; however, the Alexander hybrid is 13 inches in height, while the Hyde and Sleep hybrid is just under 10 inches in height. While the height of the mattress may not mean much to you, if you are looking for a mattress that isn’t as high off the ground, than the Hyde and Sleep may be a better choice for you.
Construction of the Hyde & Sleep Mattress
The Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress is made of three different layers. These three layers contain next gen cool foam, pocketed spring coils and high density polyurethane. Together, these three layers combine to create a mattress that is just under 10 inches thick.
The construction of the three layers of this mattress is as follows:
The First Layer
The first layer of the Hyde and Seek Hybrid mattress is made out of next gen memory foam. This foam is specially designed to offer all of the benefits of traditional memory foam, such as contouring, with none of the heat retention, an issue that is commonly experienced with memory foam.
To do reduce heat retention, Hyde and Seek infused their next gen memory foam with a cooling balm. This cooling balm pulls body heat away from the surface, which allows the temperature of the mattress to remain consistently cool throughout the night. Additionally, the memory conforms to the unique contours of the body, which allows it to offer great pressure relief, further improving the comfort factor of the mattress.
The Middle Layer
The middle layer of the Hyde and Seek Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress is made of mini pocketed inner spring coils. The springs are individually wrapped in fabric, which helps to restrict motion transfer while contouring to the body, offering great support and pain relief.
The Base Layer
Lastly, the third layer of the Hyde and Seek Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress serves as the support base for the entire mattress. This layer of the mattress is made of high density polyurethane foam, which supports the top two layers of the mattress, and further supports the body. To add to that, this foam features ventilation channels, which creates 7 zones of air flow. As a result, the base layer provides improved air flow, which pulls heat away from the sleeper and helps to keep the mattress a consistently cool temperature throughout the night.
The Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress is wrapped in a cover that is made of a blend of polyester and Elastane. The material is soft to the touch, which makes it very comfortable. It is also very thin and allows for improved breathability, further preventing heat retention. However, while the cover is thin, it is very durable; the fabric stretches very well, yet retains its shape. In fact, when we pulled on it, it bounced back to its original shape in no time. This means that the cover is very durable, which enhances the overall durability of the mattress, as it will retain the foam layers and help the mattress keep them in their proper shape
As for the aesthetics of the cover, it has a simple, clean, yet modern look. The surface and the top of the edges are white and have a tufted appearance, which adds an additional layer of softness to the mattress. The lower edges of the cover are gray in color. A strip of red piping separates the white and gray, adding a pop of color to the cover.
Hands On Review
Our goal in creating this buyer’s guide is to provide you with as much information as possible about the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress. We feel that this is extremely important with mattresses that are only available to purchase online, as you can’t try them out before you buy them. As such, it can be hard to determine whether or not it will suit your specific needs and provide you with the sleep experience that you are hoping for.
In this portion of our buyer’s guide, we provide an in depth review of the most crucial criteria that impact the overall quality and the sleep experience that the Hyde and Sleep Hybrid mattress provides. The criterion that we assessed includes the following:
- The firmness of the mattress
- The comfort of the mattress
- The pain relief and support that the mattress provides
- The level of heat retention (how cool it remains while sleeping)
- The level of off gassing (any odor that the mattress emits)
- The intimacy level (how easy it is to move in the mattress
Here’s a more detailed look at what we found regarding each of these areas.
On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest, we rank the Hyde and Seek Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress a 6. This mattress is slightly firmer than a neutral firmness mattress, which makes it appealing for the majority of sleepers. However, those who are on the lighter side and those who are looking for a softer mattress may find that this one is a bit too firm.
The high density poly base combined with the layer of mini spring pocket coils add a nice level of firmness, while the top layer of next gen memory foam and the cover add a nice layer of softness to the mattress.
We found the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress was very comfortable. As soon as we laid on it, we could feel the softness of the cover, which we were impressed with. We were also impressed by how quickly the first layer responded to the body, providing just the right hug to create a comfortable contouring feeling for the body. The memory foam almost instantly gave way to the layer of pocketed spring coils, which provided even more support right where it is needed the most.
Another element that added to the comfort of this mattress was the limited motion transfer. Motion transfer is an issue that is common to mattresses that contain inner spring coils, as movement passes throughout the coils and makes therefore makes the mattress move; however, in the Hybrid mattress from Hyde and Sleep, we are happy to report that we did not experience any motion transfer. That’s because each of the coils are individually wrapped in fabric, which helps to limit the transfer of motion. Additionally, the inner spring coils are placed in the center of the mattress, between a layer of next gen memory foam and high density poly foam, so the foam layers help to absorb any motion that the coils creates. This design really does help to restrict motion transfer and makes the mattress really comfortable.
Pain Relief and Support
Upon lying on the mattress, we were greeted by a very comfortable level of sinkage and pressure relief. The pocketed coils are very responsive, adjusting to the weight of the body and providing more support where it is needed, and less support where it isn’t. This helps to reduce the buildup of pressure in the body, which decreases pain. The mattress also does a great job of keeping the spine in proper alignment, which means that you won’t have to worry about waking up with a sore back.
We found that there was a very low level of heat retention in the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress and that it really did stay a consistently cool temperature throughout the night. The cooling balm used in the next gen memory foam, coupled with the layer of coils in the middle of the mattress, combined with the air channels in the base layer all worked in unison to create a noticeable cooling effect. Any air that enters the mattress easily exits it, helping to regulate your temperature and keeping you cool and comfortable while you sleep. In other words, you won’t wake up feeling hot and overheated while sleeping on this mattress.
Off gassing refers to the odor that a new mattress emits. This is a problem that is often experienced with mattresses that are made of foam. There are certain chemicals that are used in the production of the foam, and those chemicals can have an odor. It is not uncommon for that odor to seep out of the mattress, especially in the first few hours after opening it.
With the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid Mattress, we did notice a slight odor when we first unpackaged it. That odor was not overwhelming, but it was definitely there. To combat the odor, we opened the windows and let it air out, and within a few hours, the smell had dissipated and the mattress was ready to use.
We found that the pocketed coils offered a great level of bounce for the Hyde and Sleep Hybrid mattress. The coils responded quickly to the pressure that we applied to it, which lead to a pleasant amount of bounce. This bounce made it easier to get in and out of the mattress, and also made it easier to move around while sleeping. We also think that this bounce will make it easier to partake in those intimate activities on the mattress, as you won’t have to put any extra effort into moving around.
Sleep Position Ratings
We also wanted to assess the level of comfort and support that the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress provides for different sleep positions. This is important, because different sleep positions require different levels of support, which impacts the overall comfort of the mattress. Therefore, it is important to understand what type of comfort and support that the mattress offers for different sleep positions so that you can be sure that it will meet your expectations and deliver the comfort and support that is needed for your preferred sleeping position.
We looked at the comfort and support that the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress offered for the three most popular sleeping positions, including:
The majority of back sleepers will also enjoy the comfort and support that this mattress offers. Since the sinkage was minimal while lying on the back, there wasn’t excessive hugging, which did not make us feel like we were being consumed by the mattress. The coils and the foam work together to evenly distribute the weight throughout the mattress, thereby providing pressure point relief and leading to less aches and pains throughout the night. We think that back sleepers will enjoy this mattress the most.
The majority of stomach sleepers will find that the Hyde and Sleep Hybrid mattress is highly supportive and comfortable. We found that the pocketed spring coils certainly added to the support, as they helped to disperse the weight of the body evenly throughout the mattress. Add to that the fact that there was minimal sinkage on the stomach, and you won’t feel like you are stuck in it. However, some stomach sleepers may find this mattress too firm, especially those who are on the lighter side.
Side sleepers will experience a bit more sinkage when sleeping on the Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress. It keeps the spine in proper alignment, and reduces pressure points, which means less pain. However, we should note that it does sink a bit more while sleeping on the side, which could potentially lead to the development of pain while sleeping. Also, lighter side sleepers may find this mattress is too firm.
Bed Frame Compatibility
The Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress is designed to work with all types of bed frames. This makes it very versatile, as you can use it with anything from a box spring to the floor. However, while you can technically use any frame, we do recommend a solid frame or one that is constructed of slats that are made of either metal or durable wood, and that aren’t spaced too widely apart. This type of frame will provide even more support for the mattress, and will enhance its overall performance.
Warranty, Guarantee and Trial Period
- Warranty: 10 year limited manufacturer warranty. If you experience any issues with the mattress that are the result of a defect during the manufacturing process within 10 years from the date of purchase, Hyde and Sleep will either repair the mattress or replace it.

The Hyde and Sleep Pocket Spring Hybrid mattress offers a nice amount of bounce, yet limits motion transfer. It also provides a great deal of support and is extremely responsive, which helps to reduce the pressure buildup and any pain. The cooling memory foam and the base foam with 7 zones of air flow channels help to reduce heat retention and make and keep the mattress a consistent temperature while sleeping.
