Nectar is one of the latest introductions to the mattress bed-in-a-box mattress industry. Like other companies, the makers of Nectar are dedicated to providing their customers with a mattress that is highly comfortable and supportive to deliver the most restful and restorative night of sleep possible. Also like many other mattress manufacturers, they want to make the process of buying a new mattress as enjoyable and as easy as possible. That is why they have simplified the process of buying a mattress, only making Nectar available to purchase online. Doing so alleviates the need to go from store to store, and having to deal with the high pressure tactics that so many mattress salespeople use.
While Nectar is like many other mattress manufacturers on the market today, what makes Nectar different is that the company is completely owned by the employees. As a result, they aren’t solely focused on earnings, which means that they can focus on what really matters: producing a high quality mattress.
The people behind the Nectar mattress have more than 15 years of experience in the sleep product industry, and this mattress really exemplifies that experience. Backed by the latest testing and scientific research, as well as the results of extensive sleep trials, the makers of Nectar have managed to create a mattress that is truly comfortable and supportive for all sleepers, no matter their shape, their size, or the position that they prefer to sleep in.
The Nectar mattress is made of four separate layers of high quality materials, including three different types of memory foam and high density support foam. The result is a mattress that sleeps cool, offers exceptional support, reduces pain, and remains comfortable throughout the night. However, with all of that said, given the fact that the Nectar mattress is only available to purchase online, consumers can’t buy it online. As a result, if you are considering this mattress, it can be hard to tell if it is the right choice for you.
In order to help you determine if the Nectar is the right option for you, we have put together this extensive buyer’s guide. We have filled this guide with a detailed look at this mattress, including its construction, how it sleeps, and more. Nectar Mattress Unboxing Video
Below is our final score of the Nectar mattress based on multiple criteria that we use when testing all of our mattresses.
There are several mattresses on the market that we think are a close comparison for the Nectar mattress; however, there are two mattresses, in particular, that are the most similar to Nectar.
The Casper mattress, like the Nectar, is designed with several layers of different types of foam materials. Both mattresses are designed to offer exceptional support and comfort, and both are intended to stay cool throughout the night.
The Tempur-Pedic mattress is also very similar to the Nectar mattress. It is also made of high quality foam materials, and it is also designed to deliver exceptional support; however, the Nectar mattress sleeps cooler than the Tempur-Pedic, which ultimately makes it more comfortable.
Construction of the Nectar Mattress
The Nectar mattress is made of all foam materials, of which there are four separate layers. These layers and materials come together to provide sleepers with a sleeping surface that is 11 inches thick. The actual construction of each layer of the mattress is as follows:
On the top of the Nectar mattress is 1 inch layer of quilted memory foam that is infused with cooling gel. While there are other mattress manufacturers that use gel infused memory foam, no one else quilts this material, which makes this layer super soft. The memory foam conforms to the unique contours of the body, creating a comfortable hugging feeling, and the infusion of cooling gel pulls heat away from the body, which helps to keep the mattress cool throughout the night.
Next, there is a 1 inch layer of gel memory foam. This layer of the mattress provides additional comfort and cooling properties. Like the top layer, the second layer of the mattress conforms to the unique contours of the body, providing more support where it is needed the most. Like in the top layer of the mattress, the gel in this layer of memory foam pulls body heat away from the sleeper, ensuring that the mattress remains consistently cool. On top of that, this layer of gel memory foam is designed with open cell technology, which allows for improved air circulation and aids in keeping the mattress an even temperature. Additionally, the body weight of the sleeper is evenly distributed throughout the gel memory foam, which helps to prevent pressure from building up in the body, thus preventing the development of pain.
The third layer of the Nectar mattress is made of 3 inches of Hi Core memory foam, a material that is unique to this mattress. Hi Core memory foam is specially engineered to prevent sinkage from occurring. As a result, you won’t have a feeling like you are being trapped in the mattress, which is an issue that many people report with memory foam mattresses. Add to that the fact that the Hi Core memory foam contours to the body and you will have even more support and increased comfort.
Lastly, on the bottom of the Nectar mattress is a 6 inch layer of high density support foam. This is the layer of the mattress that serve as the foundation for the upper three layers, and it also aids in pressure point relief, thus further ensuring that you will not wake up with aches and pains. The high density support foam is extremely breathable and helps to circulate air throughout the mattress. As heat is pulled away from the sleeper by the cooling gel that is infused in the top two layers of the mattress, it is circulated out of the mattress through the high density support foam.
Surrounding all four layers of the Nectar mattress is a unique cover that is constructed of a blend of cotton and Tencel fabric. The cotton makes the cover very soft to the touch and is breathable, and the Tencel is highly breathable, helping to keep the mattress cool and comfortable. Additionally, the cover has resistive elements in yet, which works to protect the mattress by preventing the infestation of troublesome pests that can affect sleeping surfaces, such as bed bugs.
Hands On Review
Being able to purchase the Nectar mattress only online definitely makes the process of shopping for and buying a mattress a whole lot easier than having to go from store to store and contend with high pressure sales tactics; however, there is a downside to only being available online: You can’t try the mattress out before you buy it. As such, it can be hard to determine whether or not the Nectar mattress will meet your specific needs.
The reason we created this buyer’s guide is to provide readers with pertinent information regarding this mattresses so that they can determine if it is actually a good fit for their needs. For that reason, we have added this hands on review section in our buyer’s guide. In this portion of the guide, we share some of the most important criteria regarding the mattress, and this criteria directly impacts the comfort and support that it provides, as well as the type of sleep you can expect to experience. The elements that we detail in this hands on buyer’s guide include:
- Pain Relief
- Heat Retention
- Off Gassing
On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest, we give the Nectar a score of 6.5. It is slightly firmer than a neutral mattress, which improves the support that it provides. The majority of sleepers should find this firmness level pleasing; however, some may find it too firm, especially those who are on the lighter side, or those who are interested in a soft mattress.
We were quite impressed by how comfortable the Nectar mattress is. The cover is very soft, as is the first layer of quilted gel memory foam. As soon as you lie down on the mattress, you will feel the softness of the cover and the first layer. You will also notice the hugging power of the first and second layers, which adds to the comfort of the mattress. The memory foamy layers provide support where it is needed the most, reducing pressure point buildup. The third and base layers, which are made of denser foam, provide the sleeper with exceptional support, which only improves the comfort that the mattress provides.
Motion transfer is another factor that can impact the comfort of a mattress; when you feel your sleeping partner moving around the mattress, it can impact your sleep, thus leading to poorer quality sleep. The Nectar mattress does a great job of limiting motion transfer, which means that you won’t be able to feel your sleeping partner moving about and you won’t have to worry about your sleep being disrupted.
Pain Relief and Support
We also found that the Nectar mattress offered great support and did a great job of providing pain relief. The memory foam layers conform to the unique contours of the body, which means that you will be supported where you need it the most. This not only reduces pressure point buildup, but it also helps to keep the spine in proper alignment, which is key to preventing pain. Additionally, the Hi Core support foam and the base foam offer additional deep compression support, which really improves the pain relief that this mattress provides.
Heat retention is a common issue with mattresses that are made entirely of foam. That’s because foam materials, particularly memory foam, tend to draw body heat in and trap it, which results in a hotter sleeping surface. However, the infusion of cooling gel in the top two layers of the mattress helps to pull heat away from the body, preventing the mattress from overheating. The cover is made of cotton and Tencel, which makes it very breathable and further aids in keeping the mattress cool. We did not notice that this mattress heated up at all while we were sleeping on it, and we woke up feeling refreshed.
Off gassing refers to the odor that a new mattress emits. With foam mattress, this is not an unusual problem, as there are chemicals that are used in the creation of the foam, and they can give the mattress an odd odor at first.
With the Nectar mattress, we did notice that there was some odor associated with it when we first received it. To combat this issue, we placed the mattress in an air that had a lot of ventilation. After a few hours, we noticed that the smell had dissipated and we were able to start using it.
Intimacy is an important topic to discuss when it comes to mattresses, but it’s a topic that isn’t often discussed. Particularly with foam mattresses, intimacy can be an issue because they tend to absorb a lot of motion. While this is a good thing in regard to comfort, as you won’t be disrupted by your sleeping partners movement, it can make it difficult to move around and enjoy those amorous activities. As far as the Nectar mattress goes, we did notice that you will have to put in some extra effort when it comes to intimate activities, as there is virtually no motion transfer in this mattress.
Sleep Position Ratings
We also examined how the Nectar mattress performs in different sleeping positions. Each sleep position requires different levels of support in order to ensure that it is as comfortable as possible. We took a look at the type of support that this mattress offers for the most common sleeping positions, including:
Back sleepers tend to like a mattress that offers a medium firmness level. If the mattress is too soft, they can feel trapped in it, as their body weight pushes it down too but; but if it is too firm, it can lead to pressure buildup, which can cause pain.
The Nectar mattress is a moderately firm mattress, which means that it provides the right level of support and comfort for the back, as it evenly distributes weight throughout the layers. The quilted memory foam adds softness to the mattress, which provides pressure point relief and prevents the buildup of pain in key areas that back sleepers tend to experience, including the back, the neck and the shoulders.
We think that stomach sleepers may find that the Nectar mattress is a little bit too firm. The layers of memory foam do provide softness; however, the higher level of firmness may be a bit too much for stomach sleepers, as they may experience pressure buildup, especially along their lower back, which is a problem area for a lot of stomach sleepers.
We also think that side sleepers may find that the Nectar mattress a bit too firm. There is a moderate level of sinkage, which can help to enhance comfort and support; however, because of the higher degree of firmness, some side sleepers may experience pressure buildup in certain parts of their body, such as the side, the shoulders and the neck. However, with that said, this mattress does help to keep the back in proper alignment, which can help prevent pain in the back while sleeping on the side.
Bed Frame Compatibility
When purchasing a mattress, it is important to understand the type of bed frame that it is compatible with. Many mattresses are designed to only be used with a specific type of bed frame, and if it isn’t, the mattress may not be as comfortable and supportive as it is intended to be.
The Nectar mattress is designed to be used with all types of bed frames, including slatted frames, box springs, platform frames and even the floor. Because the mattress can be used with various types of frames, it really does make it versatile, as you are not limited by the type of frame that you can use with it. It also means that you do not have to purchase an additional bed frame, as you can use the one that you already own.
Warranty, Guarantee and Trial Period
- Warranty: Lifetime limited warranty, which is above the industry average. If there are any manufacturer defects within the first five years, you will receive a full replacement, free of charge. If there are defects experienced after the first five years, the mattress will be replaced, but there is a $100 transportation fee.
- Guarantee: Full money back guarantee
- Trial Period: 365 nights, which is much longer than the industry average of 100 nights. If you are not happy with the Nectar mattress within that time period, contact the manufacturer and they will fully refund your money and arrange to pick up the mattress from your location, without ever asking any questions.
Overall, we think that the Nectar mattress is very thoughtfully made and very high quality. It offers a balanced level of comfort and support that is better than the average memory foam mattress. Motion transfer is exceptional, as is pressure relief and support. The foam layers are not as responsive as some similar mattress; but we don’t think that this impacts the overall quality of the mattress. Also, we were impressed by how cool this mattress sleeps, and by the fact that it can be used with any type of bed frame. Lastly, we liked that Nectar offers a long sleep trial period and that it comes backed by a lifetime warranty.

Nectar Mattress Review
If you are on the mattress for an all foam mattress that is slightly higher than medium in firmness, you want a mattress will remain cool throughout the night, one that is highly supportive and offers an even level of comfort, than we think that the Nectar mattress would be a good option for you. This mattress is an ideal choice for someone who sleeps on their back, though side and stomach sleepers who enjoy a bit ore firmness may like this mattress, too. However, we should point out that if you are shopping for a softer mattress, one that does not have a high level of off gassing, and you want superior support on your stomach or back, you may do better with another type of mattress. As we pointed out, this mattress is a bit firmer than neutral, which some side and stomach sleepers will not enjoy.
